Library Mission Statement
The mission of the Temple Public Library is to strengthen and enrich the community by providing assistance and instruction in locating and evaluating information needed for self-directed personal growth, satisfying leisure experiences, and cultural understanding.

The BookAbout, Temple Public Library's bookmobile, visits Temple residents who are unable to come to the library themselves. Scheduled stops for the BookAbout include:

The BookAbout also strives to raise library awareness through activities such as visiting Temple ISD summer schools and participating in annual Career Days.
There is a diverse collection to choose from on the BookAbout. For adults, there are books in both regular and large print. Collections include fiction and non-fiction titles in both type sizes. For children, the selection includes easy reader and board book, juvenile, and young adult sections. Accelerated Reader reading levels and other useful program information is provided where possible.
DVD and VHS movies are available at some locations. Both collections offer a variety of titles to choose from.

The library’s genealogical collection is primarily focused on the migration path to Texas. It includes limited census and tax records, primarily for Texas counties.
Microfilm Collection
The library’s microfilm collection of the Temple Daily Telegram is also useful for genealogical research in the Temple area. In addition, the library owns microfilm of many other Central Texas newspapers. The reference staff can do limited searches of the newspaper for out-of-town patrons for a small fee.

The Library has a limited number of terminals for public Internet use. Patrons will need to present their library card and a picture ID to receive a login for the Internet. There are public Internet terminals for adults on the 2nd floor. Patrons receive one hour of computer use per day. Extensions are allowed under special circumstances and as demand allows.

Children under 13 will need a signed permission slip from a parent or guardian.and for teens (in the Teen Space) and children on the 1st floor. Parents with small children are encouraged to use the computers on the 1st floor since there are things to occupy the children in that area.

The computers on the 1st floor may be used by other adults when school is in session, but will be reserved for children and teens beginning at 3.
Printing
Patrons may print from the Internet computers at a cost of 10 cents for black and white copies, and 20 cents for color copies.

Free copies of tax forms commonly needed by individuals for the current tax year are available on the 2nd floor of the Library between the Mystery and Fiction collections. Forms frequently used by employers are on the 1st floor of the Library near the Circulation Desk. Reproducible masters of other forms and of prior years’ forms are available in the Reference Department on the 2nd Floor. The reference staff can also help you find forms on the IRS site.
