Wilson Park Recreation Center To Close for Remodel This Wednesday

The Wilson Park Recreation Center, located at 2205 Curtis B. Elliott Drive in Temple, will close to the public beginning Wednesday, August 31st as the facility undergoes extensive renovations and updates. The $1.3 million renovation was approved by voters during the 2015 Parks Bond Election. The facility is expected to be closed for approximately five months, and recreation staff anticipates the newly remodeled facility to open in time for spring programming.

“We are excited to be starting this project and bringing a recreation center with modern features and amenities to life,” said Charlie Bryant, Recreation Superintendent for Temple Parks & Recreation. “We want to again thank the citizens of Temple for making the updated Wilson Park Recreation Center a reality and can’t wait to reopen to the public this spring.”

Renovations to the Wilson Park Recreation Center will include a newly designed facility entrance, lobby with furniture, reconfigured multi-use rooms, new meeting and recreational rooms, as well as new flooring and paint throughout the facility.

Current youth programs held at Wilson Park will be relocated to other city facilities until further notice.
