Notice of a Public Hearing

The City of Temple, Texas in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), as joint lead agencies, are proposing to widen and realign FM 2483 and Prairie View Roads. In addition, existing FM 2483 and Prairie View Road intersections with SH 317 will be combined into one intersection. FM 2483 from 0.5 miles west of SH 317 to Prairie View Road 0.7 miles east of SH 317 in Bell County, Texas. This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting a public hearing on the proposed project. The hearing will be held on April 27, 2017 at Temple Public Library, 100 West Adams Avenue, Temple, Texas. Displays will be available for viewing at 5:30pm with the formal hearing starting at 6pm. The purpose of the hearing is to present the planned improvements and to receive public comment on the proposed project.

The project proposes to improve Prairie View Rd. from Pea Ridge Rd. to SH 317. Prairie View Rd. would be widened to four lanes including turn lanes, bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and a raised median in some areas. Prairie View Rd. would connect with FM 2483 at a new intersection at SH 317. FM 2483 would be realigned and widened from two lanes to four lanes from SH 317 west for a distance of approximately 0.5 mile.

The existing ROW width on FM 2483 is approximately 100 feet. Along FM 2483, no residential or commercial displacements would be needed. The Prairie View Road existing ROW width is approximately 50 feet and will be widened to 130 feet. Along Prairie View Road, six residential and two commercial displacements would be needed.

Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program, benefits and services for displacees, as well as information about the tentative schedules for ROW acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT district office at the address listed below. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses.

Any environmental documentation or studies, maps showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the project are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at 100 S. Verbal and written comments from the public regarding the project are requested and may be presented at the hearing, or submitted in person or by mail to the TxDOT Waco District Office. Comments must be received on or before May 12, 2017 to be part of the official hearing record.

The hearing will be conducted in English.
