September is Healthy Aging Month at Sammons Community Center

September is Healthy Aging Month and the Mayor’s Council on Physical Fitness and the Sammons Community Center in Temple want your golden years to be your best years! All month long, the community is invited to enjoy FREE or low cost healthy aging activities geared towards adults 50+. Stop by for free fitness classes, health screenings, seminars and finish off the month with a “Senior Prom” featuring a live band, horse drawn carriage rides, photo booth, refreshments and door prizes.

“We have healthy aging activities scheduled almost every day during September,” said Lisa Taylor, Manager of the Sammons Community Center. “We hope that this month long event will inspire adults in the community to stay active and to take charge of their health. Plus if you haven’t been to our newly remodeled center, now is the perfect time to come in for a visit!”

All activities and programs will be held at the Sammons Community Center located at 2220 W. Avenue D in Temple. To get active and involved, you may download a calendar of events online at or call 254-298-5403.
