Baylor Scott & White on the Hill to Receive Historic Marker

The Temple Historic Preservation Committee will hold a reception honoring Baylor Scott & White Health as the latest recipient of a Temple Historic Marker. The reception will be held on Thursday, November 1st at 12:00 p.m., at the Baylor Scott & White Historical Alcove located at 2401 South 31st Street in Temple.

In 1963, a unique radial shape was chosen for the hospital on “The Hill”. Nurses’ stations served as a hub and for the first time in 50 years, the clinic and hospital functions were housed under one roof. The towers on “The Hill” were the most advanced and modern patient facilities. For over 121 years, Baylor Scott & White has offered dynamic growth to the community and continues to grow its commitment to the public and healthcare needs across the world.

The historic marker program was designed to recognize historically significant structures and organizations in the city, while encouraging preservation and restoration. For a property or organization to be considered for a Temple Historic Marker, the property owner must apply with supporting documentation to the Historic Preservation Committee.

Anyone interested in learning more about Baylor Scott & White Health or the Temple Historic Marker Program is encouraged to attend. Please RSVP by calling the Temple Visitor Center at 298-5900.
