City of Temple General Election 2020 - Saturday, May 2, 2020 


 
The General Election is scheduled for May 2, 2020 for District 2 & District 3 Councilmember.  Each position is elected for its respective single-member district for three year terms.

Candidate Qualifications  

  • Be a US citizen;
  • Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for 6 months immediately preceding the date the appointment is made;
  • On the date of appointment/filing, be registered to vote in the territory from which the office elected;
  • Be 18 years or older;
  • Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be:
  • Totally mentally incapacitated; or
  • Partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;
  • No felony convictions;
  • Satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for the office
The first day to file an Application for a Place on the Ballot for either District 2 or District 3 is 5:00 p.m. on January 15, 2020.

The last day to file as a write-in candidate is 5:00 p.m. on February 18, 2020.

Registered voters that fall into one of the four following categories are eligible to vote by mail:

1. Individuals 65 years or older
2. Disabled
3. Will be out of the county on Election Day AND the entire period of early voting
4. Confined to jail, but otherwise eligible to vote
